Copper indium selenide or sulphide photocell with double junction

The photocell is fabricated from a compressed powder pellet of CuIn(Se,S)2 placed on a substrate (2) covered by a transparent conductor oxide coat. The substrate is placed on a quartz base with a central hole (4). The whole structure is then inserted into a quartz tube (5) which contains solid iodine (6),in order to form two domains of n and p conductivity. The tube is then evacuated and sealed via a tap (7), and placed above a heater (8).
