<p>A litter box is charged with a flowable granular composition convertible in contact with a small water addition to agglomerates readily dispersible in a charge water addition, comprising at least one water-swellable clay mineral and at least one hydrophilic non-clay component additional to any alkali bound to the clay. Preferably the non-clay component is selected from the group consisting of a non-surfactant water-soluble material, a water-soluble surfactant, and a finely divided water-insoluble material. The invention also provides the aforementioned composition in which the non-clay component is present as solid particles adherent to the exterior of the clay particles, and a process of making the composition.</p> |
