The protective radome (2) is placed in front of the radar aerial (1). The radome defines a temporal active spatial filter. The filter comprises several hyperfrequency arrays of elements (3,4,5), at least one of which is active. The active layer is electrically controlled so that it may be in one of two distinct states (A and B). In the first state (A) the radome structure is transparent for the range of wavelengths used by the radar system, and reflective outside this range. In the second state (B), the radome structure is reflective to all radar frequencies.
