The invention relates to a container which is intended to hold waste. The container is provided with a filling passage and a pressure-exerting member which is arranged in the container and is used to compress waste (refuse) which is tipped into the container via the filling passage. A rotatable drum, which is provided with a feed opening, is arranged in the filling passage, all this in such a manner that waste can be emptied into the drum via the feed opening in a first position of the drum, and the waste can be tipped out of the drum into the interior of the container by rotating the drum into a second position.
