PURPOSE:To achieve improvement of printing quality by enabling complicate correction to be performed, by a method wherein detection of variation of a supply voltage and setting of a printing head driving time are executed by digital control. CONSTITUTION:When a CPU1 receives one line content of printing data from an external part, the CPU1 sends an initial printing data to a driving pin number counting circuit 5 and calculates the number of pins to be driven. Further, the CPU1 receives a pulse signal having a time width inversely proportional to a supply voltage from a supply voltage pulse width conversion circuit 4, counts with a built-in counter, and sends to a ROM2. A printing head driving time which gives a certain printing quality to each time width and each number of driving pins is preliminarily recorded on a table of the ROM2. Therefore, by reading a printing head driving time corresponding to the designated time width and the designated number of driving pins from the ROM2 and by sending to a printing head driving time setting timer 6 with the CPU1, an optional printing head driving characteristic can be obtained, and the configuration of a circuit also becomes simple. |
