PURPOSE:To provide an exhaust gas purifying catalyst removing carbon monoxide, hydrocarbon and nitrogen oxide in exhaust gas at the same time even under an oxygen excessive atmosphere and especially enhanced in the durability of purifying property to NOx. CONSTITUTION:The exhaust gas purifying catalyst removing carbon monoxide, hydrocarbon and nitrogen oxide in exhaust gas at the same time even under an oxygen excessive atmosphere consists of a porous carrier and the NOx absorbing material consisting of at least one element selected from among platinum, palladium and rhodium and at least one element selected from among alkali metal, alkaline earth metal and rare earth metal supported on the porous carrier. The NOx absorbing material has an average particle size of 0.1-20mum. Exhaust gas containing carbon monoxide, hydrocarbon and nitrogen oxide is brought into contact with the exhaust gas purifying catalyst to remove those components in the exhaust gas at the same time. |
