RECORDING MEDIUM AND IMAGE FORMING METHOD USING THE SAME

PURPOSE:To obtain a recording medium which has excellent ink fixing properties and recorded matter carrying ability without almost change of properties in a high-temperature and high-humidity environment by incorporating aqueous resin, and block copolymer of polyvinyl alcohol and hydrophobic polymer as indispensable ingredients in an ink receiving layer. CONSTITUTION:The ink receiving layer of a recording medium having a base material and an ink receiving layer provided at least on one side surface of the material to be used satisfactorily for ink jet recording is formed of a material which contains aqueous resin and a block polymer of polyvinyl alcohol and hydrophobic polymer. In this case, the ratio of the resin to the copolymer is set to a range of 1 to less than 100 pts.wt. of the copolymer to 100 pts.wt. of the resin. The base material is formed of plastic film or sheet. Ink which contains liquid medium component formed mainly of water and water miscible glycols or glycol ethers as main ingredients is used.
