Method for producing a hollow metal component

The method consists of producing a blank (11), placing this blank into a mould, and introducing a pressure medium to expand the blank against the mould surface. The blank (11) has initially a constant non-circular cross section which approximates the cross section of the component to be produced. At least one end of the blank is provided with a circular opening (21, 22) for a sealable inlet for the pressure medium. Pref. the blank (11) is an extruded profile segment with a non-circular cross section. The blank is provided with an internal wall (13) separating the cylindrical space (14) from a further space (15) of the blank. A support element (which is removed after the moulding operation) is introduced into the space (15). Such a support element can fill the entire cross section of the space (15).
