<p>For use with a twin-roll caster for casting a steel strand of thickness about 5 to 35 mm, immediately downstream of the twin rolls is provided a water-cooled copper-faced stationary mold for further cooling the strand. The upper surfaces of the stationary mold are preferably cylindrically concave shaped to conform to the twin roll peripheries so as to permit the stationary mold to be positioned underneath the twin rolls as closely as possible to the twin rolls.</p> |
