<p>A power transmission for a mechanical press for transmitting the rotational energy of a flywheel (2) driven by a motor (1) to the slide drive (8) of the mechanical press includes a transmission shaft (4a) of which one end is connected to the flywheel (2) and the other end is connected to planetary gearing (19; 19'). The planetary gearing comprises three elements, namely a sun gear (15), one or more planet gears (30) or sets of integral planet gears (13, 23) and either an internally toothed ring gear (14) which is in mesh with the planet gears (13) or a further sun gear (24). A power take-off gear (5) is connected to rotate with one of the said elements. The transmission shaft (4a) is connected to another of the said elements and speed control means comprising a servo motor (18) or a variable torque brake (28) is connected to the third of the said elements and arranged to adjust its speed and thus to adjust the speed of the power take-off gear. <IMAGE></p> |
