A particulate trap filter (16) is provided with an electric heater (20) for burning out particulates accumulated therein. The electric heater (20) is provided as a wiring pattern such that a higher power efficiency is provided for the portion (B) corresponding to the portion of the filter located away from the center of the filter and a relatively lower power efficiency is provided for the portion (A) corresponding to the central portion of the filter.
