<p>PURPOSE:To provide a spherical joint for pipes which couples together the first and second pipes using a pressing means with possibility of relative movement while a seal bearing having a spherical contacting surface is interposed, with which enhancement of the sealing performance and elimination of noises are accomplished by forming a ring-shaped projection having an approx. trapezoidal section contacting with the spherical contacting surface on the seal seat. CONSTITUTION:In case a spherical joint concerned is applied to the exhaust pipe of a car, a flange 20 is secured to the end part periphery of an upstream exhaust pipe 11, and a seal bearing 30 having a truncated spherical peripheral surface is fitted on the tip 11a of the pipe, and a seal seat 25 is fixed to the end part periphery of a downstream exhaust pipe 12. The seal bearing 30 is interposed between the seal seat 25 and flange 20, and the two are pressed together. A ring-shaped projection 28 having an approx. trapezoidal section to be in contact with the seal bearing 30 is formed approx. in the middle of a concave spherical surface 27 formed on the seal seat 25. Thereby the concave spherical surface 27 is divided and is put in tight attachment to the seal bearing with the top constituting the concave spherical surface of the ring-shaped projection 28 so that a high sealing performance is obtained.</p> |
