PURPOSE: To provide a video telephone system which can give the illusion of eye contact to a user. CONSTITUTION: CRT 13 for projecting an image which an observer 14 can view on a plane display screen 12 is contained. A screen contains the first array of a first area 19 and the second array of a second area 20 for guiding the video display image to the observer. The second array contains a means for projecting the video display image (VIP) on the observer 14 and sending the image of the observer to a video camera 15. The video camera is matched with a position on the screen so that the observer views VIP. The image of the observer is sent by the video camera and the illusion of eye contact is generated. The first array is the array of a micro lens 19 and it is formed of the array of a transparent area 20 in the screen scattered in the micro lens. The micro lens and the transparent area are respectively very small and they cannot be recognized as different ones by the eyes of a man. |
