A method for preparing an intravenous infusion solution, e.g. a dextrose or sodium chloride solution, and dividing it into unit doses, wherein a primary solution is prepared at a first location; the primary solution is packaged at said first location in the form of amounts of concentrated solution that correspond to a given amount of the active principles needed for the later preparation of a given volume of dilute solution; the solution is stored and optionally transported to a second location; and the primary solution is diluted at said second location with water treated for use in injectable preparations, to give the dilute solution, whereafter it is split up into unit doses for delivery.
