PURPOSE:To obtain the subject compound, etc., useful as a raw material for synthesis of medicine etc., on an industrial scale at low cost by culturing a microorganism belonging to the genus Acinetobacter and capable of producing mannose in a medium containing fructose as a main raw material and separating the product, etc., from the culture liquid. CONSTITUTION:A microorganism belonging to the genus Acinetobacter and capable of producing mannose [e.g. Acinetobacter spp. M-13-1-2 (FERM P-14367)]is inoculated into a medium containing fructose as a main raw material. This medium is subjected to shaking culture at 30 deg.C for 2 days at the speed of 160rpm e.g. by a rotary shaker to accumulate mannose in the culture liquid. The culture liquid is separated into microbial cells and a supernatant by centrifugation. The supernatant is desalted to obtain a mixture of mannose and fructose and the mixture solution is subjected to column chromatography using a cation-exchanging resin. The objective mannose is obtained on an industrial scale at a low cost. |
