PURPOSE:To prevent further temperature rising by lowering the braking force of a retarder brake when the temperature of the retarder brake and prevent the aggravation of the feeling of a driver while restraining the sudden change in the braking force of the whole of a vehicle. CONSTITUTION:In an auxiliary braking force controlling device wherein when the temperature of a retarder brake 3, which is detected by a temperature detection means 10, is abnormal, a retarder braking force lowering means 9 lowers the braking force of the retarder brake 3, an auxiliary braking force adjusting means 8 is constituted in such a way that the lowering amount of the braking force of the retarder brake is born by the engagement of an engine brake clutch 7, the working of engine braking force caused by the engagement of a lock-up clutch 5 or shift down 6 and the operation of an exhaust brake 2 by combining one of them.
