A tread for a winter tyre suitable for use on snow-covered, icy or wet ground, including at least some raised portions having tread surface grooves (10) extending along paths with widths greater than zero and median axes at given angles ( alpha 0) to the circumferential direction of the tyre. At least on the surfaces that are parallel to the tread surface and radially spaced therefrom by a distance no smaller than half the maximum depth of the groove, some of the grooves (10) have one or more paths with median axes extending in directions ( alpha 1) different from the direction ( alpha 0) of the median groove path axis on the tread surface. |
