Use of deformable hollow particles with a density of <120 kg/m<3> in a cosmetic and/or dermatological powdered and/or lipid-contg. compsn. for imparting softness and/or homogeneity on application to the skin and/or mucosa. Also claimed is a method as above where the particles have a density of 60-80 kg/m<3> and a size of 15-22 mu m. The particles are formed from an expanded polymer or copolymer of methyl methacrylate, methyl acrylate, acrylonitrile and/or vinylidene chloride are added at 0.01-10 wt.%.
