Coated printing paper with high gloss and improved printability

Coated printing paper (I) comprises a substrate with a pigmented layer on at least one side, coated with a layer contg. particles of thermoplastic polymer latex (II) with a mean particle dia. of less than 100 nm and a sec. transition temp. (T) of above 80 deg C. This surface layer is either (a) not calendered or (b) calendered at a temp. below T deg C.
