The invention calls for the airbag (10) to have a channel-like attachment zone (12) whose inside surface fits over the outside surface of a mounting (14) designed to be inserted in the airbag. The mounting (14) is inserted in a straight line into the rectangular aperture (16) at the open end of the attachment zone (12). After passage of the mounting through the aperture (16), the part of the end of the attachment zone (12) extending out behind the mounting is folded on to the back of the mounting in the same way as when wrapping a parcel and secured in place by a fastening strip (15) held against the mounting (14) by bolts (20).
