Optical fibre cable connector and branch coupling

The connector and branch coupling has a contracted head-shrink sleeve (22), receiving the ends of a pair of optical fibre cables (1), with individual tension restraints (10, 32, 33) for the stripped ends of the latter. A hardened sealing compound (47) is contained within the sleeve, in which the tension restraints are embedded. Pref. the shrink-fit sleeve is made of a transparent material, allowing the sealing mass to be hardened by irradiation with light of a given wavelength. The inside surface of the shrink-fit sleeve may be coated with an adhesive.
