Spinneret hole spacing for dry spinning esp. polyacrylonitrile fibres

Synthetic polymer filaments (1), esp. polyacrylonitrile, upto 0 3.3 dtex are dry spun from an annular spinneret (2) and cooled by a radially outward gas flow from a distributor (6) at the upper end of the spinning chimney (3). The throughput is at least 15 kg/hr per chimney using a symmetrical circular distribution of spinneret holes (5). At least the inner third of spinneret hole rings has at most half the number of holes per ring compared with the outer rings. The number of holes per square cm. is less than 10.
