Conveyor belt with registration markings, for automatic guidance system

The belt is of rubber or a similar elastomer and has embedded strands, reinforcing it along the running direction. By overlapping its edges, the belt is formed up into a closed tube, which is supported all round by carrier rollers. The belt (1, 4) has a durable, coloured characteristic mark (2, 3, 5, 6, 7) for optical registration. Also claimed is a belt as above, where the indicators (9, 10) are for inductive electromagnetic registration, and are integrated within the belt. Pref. the coloured marking (2, 3) is applied along and underneath the flat belt surface near and up to, one or both edges. It may alternatively be applied along one or both of the thin edges of the belt. A further method is to apply transverse markings (5, 6, 7), separating them by distances X along the belt. They appear: in the centre, near either of the edges, or alternating between opposite edges.
