Modular catalyst and exhaust system, esp. for large diesel engines

A modular catalyst and exhaust system has a housing (11) with an inlet (12) and an outlet (13) and a flow path for the exhaust gas from one to the other. A flow distributor (30) is located downstream of the inlet and a number of catalyst substrates (22) are located downstream of the distributor. The distributor has a number of passages which divide the flow path into a number of subsidiary paths, which re-unite downstream of the catalyst substrates. A means of suppressing noise (41) is placed in the flow path upstream of the outlet.
