Pharmaceutical compsn. for topical application comprises chlortetracycline (I) or its salts, and crotamiton (II), in a ratio so that the amt. of crotamiton potentiates the antibacterial activity of the chlortetracycline. The concn. ration of (II) : (I) is 0.5 - 60 (pref. 1 - 50, esp. 1 - 25). Concn. of (I) is /- 0.1 %, concn. of (II) is <= 5%. (II) acts as a preservative in the compsn.. The compsn. may also contain an oily excipient such as vaseline, paraffin oil, silicone and/or silicone oil. |
