The animation system includes a shuttle (1) which carries two magnets (2) which may be permanent or electrical. Its motion is controlled by two perpendicular threaded rods (3,4) and sleeves (10,11) which are set in rotation by two belted motors (5,6). The rods are made of aluminium or composite and one (A) is fixed to the surface. The other rod (B) carries the shuttle which has a disc (12) to support the two magnets. The disc may be rotated by an electric motor (14) and belt drive. The disc can be displaced on its axis and a spring (15) compensates for the imperfections in the surface. The object to be displayed has two magnets or metal pieces to allow it to track the shuttle. Relays and graduated potentiometers control the speed and direction of the motors.
