Prepn. of a sandwich comprises making a filling, cooking it in a vacuum and storing at low temp. The filling is then introduced into a cavity in the bread prod., which is wrapped so that it is ready to eat. The cooking and storage of the filling are carried out in the same pouch (1) of a food-grade supple plastic, with a temp. of 0 deg C used for the storage. A portion of the inside of the bread is removed to form a cavity, and the filling is injected into it by applying a pressure to the pouch.
