The keyboard is separable into left- and right-hand parts (1, 4) which are displaced relative to one another along a straight or curved rail (2), to obtain the optimum operating position of both parts for the user, in which they are secured. Pref. the left- and right-hand parts are secured together by the rail and by an additional coupling in the form of a spring, a pantograph, or a telescopic coupling.
