Amide tetrazole acat inhibitors

Amide tetrazoles of the formula wherein aryl includes phenyl and naphthyl, unsubstituted or substituted, X is =O, =N-R5, or -NR3R4, where R2, R4, and R5 include alkyl and alkoxy and R3 includes alkyl, are potent inhibitors of the enzyme acyl CoA:cholesterol acyltransferase (ACAT) and are thus useful for treating hypercholesterolemia or atherosclerosis.
