The belt release (10) is housed between the tongue (3) box plates (8) so as to enclose the sides as a guiding ring. The contact face of the flat release (10) for the locking bolt (11) is provided by part of the release end face. The bolt enters the tongue through a hole in its side for locking purposes and slides in at right angles to the tongue insertion sense, the release endface set at an acute angle (BETA) to the insertion. The bolt also enters a hole in the box set at an angle to the insertion direction to reinforce the locking action, pref. using slots in the top and bottom plates of the box (8). If two tongues are fitted to work into a single box, both tongues have side bolt holes and the bolt can be forced home by spring (12) which also loads the tongue into its release direction.
