The personal computer has a housing (20) with a front plate (34) and a rear wall (24), enclosing electronic components including a main circuit board, a network stage and a disc drive mechanism (46). The front plate and the rear wall are coupled together via a pair of telescopic guide rails, allowing them to be displaced between a normal position and a retracted position for servicing and repair. The guide rail sections associated with the front plate and the rear wall may remain in engagement with one another in the retracted position, or may be fully separated, for removal of the front plate.
