Bobbin coding giving simple, compact and adjustable system

The coding system for a wound bobbin, esp. synthetic yarns, has a coder (6) with at least one flat rotating ring (7) parallel to the bobbin axis (3). The ring (7) has a number of different code units (8) on the flat ring side (7a) and is fitted to at least one of the end sides (5) of the bobbin (1). Pref. the ring (7) is concentric to the bobbin axis (3), recessed into an end side (5) of the bobbin at the outer side of a bobbin flange (4) within a ring groove. The ring (7) in cross section, has a cut back section at least for a shaped lock with a structured ring at the end side (5) held in place by at least one pinching, which is also used as a reference mark and a projection to lock a selected code (8). The flat ring side (7a) has at least one grip (12) for the insertion of a setting tool for its rotation, as a drilling or stamping in the ring (7). The code sections (8) are coloured fields, numbers, letters or they are machine readable.
