A 2-acylaminopropanol compound represented by general formula (I) or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof, and a medicinal composition containing the same as the active ingredient and being efficacious as an antiviral agent and a remedy for nervous diseases, wherein R<1> represents phenyl which may be substituted by one to three same or different substituents selected from among alkyl, alkoxy, hydroxy, hydroxyalkyl and nitro; R<2> represents a group represented by any of general formulae (II) through (VI) wherein, R<3>, R<4>, R<5>, R<6>, R<7>, R<8>, R<9>, m and p are each as defined in the specification; R<11> represents hydrogen or hydroxy; and n represents an integer of 3 to 15.
