Mfg. a hollow component from two flat plastic plates (7) comprises (a) feeding a first plate (7) into the forming station (2) and clamping between upper (10) and intermediate (22) frames; (b) picking up a second plate (7) at a feeding station (1) and transferring to a conveyer (3); (c) heating both plates (7); (d) raising the upper clamping frame (19) and first plate (7); (e) raising the conveyer (3) and the second plate (7) into the forming station (2) and lowering the conveyor (3); (f) clamping both plates (7) between the upper (19), intermediate (22) and lower (18) frames; (g) shaping the plates (7) and welding the edges together to form a hollow prod.; and (h) raising the conveyer (3) to extract the prod.. The process plant comprises a feeding station (1) for raising plates (7) from a stack (4) to a conveyer (3), a heater (8,9) for heating the raised plate (7), and forming station (2) with two vertically movable tool halves (15,17) and a clamping frame (18,19,22). Both the upper frame (19) and conveyer have systems for moving and holding a plate (7). An intermediate frame (22) on the conveyer (3) comprises two longitudinal bars and two lateral bars, one of which on the output side is pivoted on the lower frame (18).
