An air bag 18 is structured by superposing a lower panel 34 and an upper panel 36 and sewing up the edges of the panels. The air bag is provided with an opening for an inflator at its rear portion. Flaps 46, 48 are extended from a peripheral portion of the opening for the inflator. Mounting holes 50 are provided for rivets or bolts. The upper and lower panels may be formed by folding a single piece of cloth (Fig. 12).
