The safety belt system has two main restraint straps with further bracing webs and a head restraint loop. A vehicle rear seat has existing seat belt anchor points (1.0,1.4) to which are attached two main restraining belt webs (1.1) which lye across the passengers hip and chest area. These webs can be either parallel or flared to provide a larger load carrying area. Running laterally between the main webs are two bracing belts (1.2) of fixed length or preferably adjustable. The passengers head is supported by a specially shaped pillow which will stop whiplash injuries and a web loop (1.5) placed over the shoulders to stop any lateral sliding of the body.
