PURPOSE:To set a proper pause for a synthesized sound generated from an inputted text. CONSTITUTION:A linguistic processing part 1 takes a morpheme analysis of the input sentence, whose paragraph is identified from the morpheme analytic result. Then components as process units setting a pause is identified from the identification result of the paragraph of the input sentence on the basis of a paragraph relation rule prescribing the relation among paragraphs of Japanese and a pause setting rule which is statistically found and prescribes the position and length of a pause to be inserted into a Japanese sentence is applied to the respective components constituting the input sentence to set the position and length of the pause inserted into the components. |
