OPTICAL CARD AND DATA ACCESS SYSTEM FOR OPTICAL CARD

PURPOSE:To form an optical card in such a manner that design printing is partly applicable on the optical storage part occupying a large area of the card surface as well and that the optical card functions normally even when the optical storage part is subjected to the design printing. CONSTITUTION:This optical IC hybrid card 1 has an IC part 3 and the optical storage part 5. The printing region 17 is partially set in the optical storage part 5. This printing region 17 is subjected to the design printing. The address of the starting sector A of the printing region 17 and the address of the final sector B thereof are stored in the memory of the IC part 3. A recording and reproducing device first accesses the IC part 3 and reads out the addresses of the starting and final sector of the printing region 17 when the card 1 is inserted into the recording and reproducing device. Next, the device checks whether the address to read and write the data enters the range of the addresses of the starting and final sectors or not. The device reads and writes the data into and from the optical storage part 5 when the address does not enter the range described above.
