PURPOSE:To grasp the use amt. or residual amt. of a separate recording material used previously even when a recording material is replaced by mistake by providing an alteration means altering the content of a memory means corresponding to the amt. of the recording material of a recording material holding means when the recording material holding means is mounted for the purpose of recording and there is specified input. CONSTITUTION:When a user confirms that a residual amt. is slight by a residual amt. indicator and selects a 'new head cartridge replacement' key by the input device 3005 in a host machine 300, at first, the data showing the presence and kind of a head cartridge HD1 mounted at the present time is detected to be stored in the predetermined area of the EEPROM 3105 in a recording apparatus 310. When HD1 is replaced, the kind thereof is detected and a residual amt. is displayed, that is, information content is stored but the value stored up to now, that is, the number of cumulated recording dots (count value) is set as it is without being initialized. Subsequently, the user initializes the number of cumulated recording dots (count value) for the first time at the point of time when specified input is performed. |
