An integrated network switch comprising peripheral card shelves, a common control a plurality of switching memories, with first and second interfaces mounted locally to the switching memories, and remote for the peripheral card shelves, in cooperation with a transport medium. The network switch includes ports interconnected to peripheral devices for selective switching signals in frame format between ports with each port occupying a fixed time slot in the fame. Buffer sets provide positions of messages.
