PURPOSE: To extend the life of a battery by shortening the feeding time of the selective call receiver. CONSTITUTION: The selective call receiver 200 includes a receiver 204 for receiving a paging signal. A detector connected to a baud rate detector 224 included in a synchronization acquiring circuit detects a synchronizing code word. In accordance with the detection of the synchronizing code word, address information is decoded. A synchronization maintaining circuit includes a circuit for maintaining synchronization with the paging signal during the period of address decoding and enabling a power supply controller 210. The detector 224 detects a baud rate at least for a period between the 1st and 2nd parts of addresses in accordance with the power supply to the receiver 200. A preamble detector detects a preamble at least for a part of the 2nd address in accordance with the reception of the 2nd part of the addresses. |
