<p>PURPOSE:To hold acuteness of an edge part of a character graphic by providing a character background discriminating means, a character region reducing circuit, and an erasing circuit, and performing different processing depending on a character or a background region. CONSTITUTION:This circuit is constituted with a character background detecting circuit 1, a character region reducing circuit 2 covering a character region, a background region erasing circuit 3 covering a background region, and an inverter circuit 4 reversing an output of the character background detecting circuit 1. And the character background detecting circuit 1 detects whether an input picture is a character or a background. Reduction processing is performed in a character region based on the discriminated result of the character background detecting circuit 1. The character reducing circuit 2 is a circuit reducing a character having high acuteness, and a character is processed so that it is not blurred or disappeared. Further, the background region erasing circuit 3 thins out input signals for a region discriminated as a background so that a desired reduction rate is obtained based on the output result of the character background detecting circuit 1.</p> |
