Elevator device making it possible to handle heavy loads without being hindered by the overhangs (balconies, small terrace, cornice, etc...) and which may be installed by one single person. It comprises a carriage 1 fitted with a motor winch 2, which is in general electric, running freely on a horizontal rail 3. This rail 3 is installed on a gin 4, itself fixed to the construction or to the frame. The carriage 1 is moved manually or mechanically by a translation motion from one end to the other of the rail 3 with its tray 10. The latter is laid onto the flooring 7 provided for the storage of the materials. The carriage 1, the end of which is overhanging, makes it possible to avoid the overhangs, which facilitates the raising and lowering of the materials. The manoeuvres are carried out by the operator who can work alone without difficulty. The device is particularly of interest to the building industry.
