The synchronization device (4) proposed has a thrust piece (10) which moves the appropriate synchronization ring against a friction surface on the adjacent clutch body during a gear shift, the thrust piece also holding a spherical snap-in retention element (12) designed to lock a shift sleeve (9) in its neutral position. The invention calls for the thrust piece (10), which consists of a sleeve-like foot (26) and a parallelepipedic (27), to hold a pression spring (11) and to be displaceable in a T-shaped longitudinal groove (25) in a synchronization ring (5).
