Stabilisation of N-vinyl amide monomers against polymerisation

A process for the stabilisation of N-vinyl amide using a quinone or its alkali-modified derivative, Pref. the mixture contains 50-10,000 ppm of the quinone (derivatives).The N-vinyl amide is N-vinyl formamide. The quinone is a benzoquinone, pref. P-benzoquinone. The N-vinyl amide is distilled in the presence of the quinone (derivative).
