An overhead rail (1) comprises a downwardly mobile section (2) with a chariot (4), bearing a support shaft (5) with hooks to which pieces of meat are attached.A retractable stop (10) halts the chariot and positions it coaxial with the tip of a cone (8), which comprises an axial hollow into which the hooks and shaft lock when lowered.The meat is thus unhooked and slides down the cone, onto a supporting table (9).
