A process is proposed for concentrating ore, especially gold-bearing ore. It involves the following steps: a stream of the sludge to be processed, containing grains of the valuable ore component and particles of barren ore, is fed into the treatment zone; a trap layer is created in the treatment zone and charged with grains of the valuable ore component. During the charging process, the trapping properties of the layer are regenerated by the creation of hydraulic resistance, which is not equal along the length and across the width of the stream, to the longitudinal flow of the stream, and stationary vortices are generated in the lower part of the stream, the axis of rotation of the vortices being at an angle to the direction of flow. The vortices act on the particles in the solid-phase of the sludge with an orbital velocity greater than the sinking velocity of the particles in the barren ore and less than the sinking velocity of the grains in the valuable ore component. As the stream flows through the treatment zone, it is inclined in the transverse direction and a helix-like current is generated, the axis of this current matching the direction of the inclined stream. The proposed device for concentrating useful ore comprises an input section and at least one additional section (1, 2 respectively) joined together in sequence, the additional section (2) being slanted in relation to the input section in any direction in such a way that the angle ( alpha 1) between the respective longitudinal axes (a and b1) of the two sections is between 0.5 and 45 DEG , riffles (10) in the patterns (8) in the additional section (2) being slanted in a direction opposite to the direction of slant of this section (2) in relation to the input section (1) and forming an angle ( beta 1) with the side walls (4) of the additional section (2) in such a way that they form an acute angle ( gamma 1) with the riffles (9) in the input section (1). |
