An improved shielded plug assembly (30) includes a casing (2) composed of two separate halves (3,4) of material capable of absorbing electromagnetic waves. The casing (2) encloses a flanged plug (31), the exposed conductors of an associated interconnect cable (63), a metal band (1) binding the exposed braiding (66) and the stripped end (24) of the cable. The flange (67A) of the cable plug (31) and the stripped end of the cable are sandwiched between the two halves (3,4) of the shielded casing (2) and held in place within the casing. A flexible covering (6) has a cavity which receives the casing (2) and its enclosed components and retains the assembly (30) together.
