<p>PURPOSE: To effectively reduce NOx in a combustion gas by utilizing ammonia formed as a byproduct in a chemical reaction process by injecting at least a portion of the byproduct ammonia into the combustion gas and converting the combustion byproduct NOx into molecular nitrogen and water vapor. CONSTITUTION: This method comprises; supplying an off-gas 16 which is discharged from a catalyst preparation zone 10 and contains ammonia, steam and ethylene glycol, to a connection point 43 through a compressor 40; then introducing the off-gas 16 into an ammonia scrubber 82; bringing the off-gas 16 into countercurrent contact with water in the ammonia scrubber 82; thereafter introducing the wash water containing ammonia through a line 88 into an injection ring 90 placed in the stream of a combustion product containing NOx, at the midway point between a superheated steam generation section 70 and a wet steam generation section 62; and then evaporating the wash water and reacting the ammonia in the wash water with the high temperature combustion product containing NOx to form steam and molecular nitrogen.</p> |
