PURPOSE:To obtain a color filter and a liquid crystal display device having sharp color and excellent optical characteristics in which leaking of light is much prevented. CONSTITUTION:A substrate having circuit-shaped laminated layers comprising a transparent conductive layer 2 as the lower layer and a photoresist layer 3 as the upper layer is obtd. in processes (a) and (b). In the process (e), the transparent conductive layer 2 which constitutes the lower layer of the laminated layers is processed to expose in a fine chip, state, and, the photoresist layer 3 remaining after development is treated, if necessary, by heating or/and irradiation with light. In the process (f), a color layer 4 is formed by electrodeposition on the exposed transparent conductive layer 2 in a fine chip state. The photoresist layer 3 remaining in the process (e) after development is removed in the process (g) to obtain such a substrate having the transparent conductive layer 2 and the color layer 4 processed into chips, while the substrate between the chips is exposed. A light-shielding resin layer 5 is formed on the substrate in the process (h). In the process (i), the substrate is exposed to light through the back side and developed to remove the unexposed part of the light-shielding resin layer 5. |
